My Coaching Approach
In the Coaching Process, We’ll Cultivate Five Primary Qualities:
A Growth Mindset
Stagnation kills us more than anything, while curiosity, learning and growth fuel a deep part of us that flows forward with the ever-evolving true nature of life. When we can adopt and optimize this mindset, it’s not that our dreams haven’t happened, it’s that they haven’t happened YET. Our capacity to create our own reality becomes evident, failure offers value in what it teaches us and we become capable and confident to navigate whatever life throws at us. Or whatever we throw at life.
Gratitude
Learning to see, focus on and attract the ample goodness within and in the world around us is rocket fuel for our happiness and success. Rather than focusing on the negative, and creating more of that in our lives, something we all tend to do, when we start to acknowledge and savor the good in our lives, we feel more hope, joy, inspiration and possibility. Gratitude is the most powerful motivating force. Grow it and blast off.
Self-Compassion
Whereas self-criticism is a ticking time bomb of a motivating force. It may move us forward, but at a high cost - of our health, happiness and presence. It’s unsustainable. The gentle, loving, understanding & at times fierce voice of self-compassion guides us forward without taxing our life energy. It supports us in times of need, the low points we all must face in life. And instead of screaming at us to get up the hill, we can actually enjoy the process, rather than constantly craving the relief of the destination. And 99% of life is the hike up to each mountaintop - so why not love the journey?
Congruency
When we look to others to define ourselves and our goals, we are destined to walk around uncomfortable in our own skin and unsure about our lives. Self-doubt is only natural because we are wearing a mask and trying to live someone else’s life. We are denying ourselves our true essence, and constantly in conflict within.
But when we get in touch with our own unique values, get clear on what makes us who we are, what our strengths are, our weaknesses, what lights us up, what energizes us and what kills our vibe: it becomes clear as day how to lead our own lives true to ourselves. And, ultimately, true to the world around us.
Purpose
We are story-tellers. Humans have this beautiful capacity to understand the world around them through language and art. The imaginative mind gives us the gift of meaning, and meaning drives us further and deeper than the simple impulses of survival. Purpose pushes us beyond, into connection, expansion and ultimately flourishing. Clarifying yours erases the plague of self-doubt and defines your path to self-actualization, home of the more robust feelings of true happiness: fulfillment, peace, connection and awe of life.
And Develop These Four Areas of Practice:
Self-Care
Our energy either limits us or affords us possibility. Self-care is about filling our cup regularly. Its finding balance in life rather than striving endlessly. Fueling ourselves well, strengthening our bodies, hearts and minds, as well as giving generously to ourselves, ensures that we are fit for life. And that we enjoy it too! If we want to make our dreams reality, and have a blast while we are at it, self-care is an essential practice.
Mindfulness
With mindfulness practice, we learn to slow down enough to create space in our lives. Space to see ourselves, our thoughts, our patterns, our biases clearly. Space to honor them without judgment but also to discern a better course for ourselves. And most importantly, instead of living life reactively, always on auto-pilot, it gives us the power to chose and forge that new course in the moments that matter most.
Self-Determination
Self-determination is about harnessing the power of perspective. It’s about asserting creative control over your self-talk, perceptual biases and belief systems. Noticing when you get in your own way and instead learning to cheer yourself on and make the most out of any situation. It’s about creating and responding to life with a skillful, versatile mindset, rather than settling for limiting unconscious scripts. It’s mastering the mind.
Inspired Action
Inspired action is the skill of making intentional, empowered choices regularly. It’s clarity put to use. Direction in motion. It’s actualizing your power of what you do, built off of a strong sense of who you are, and what matters most. It’s about taking one step at a time forward, strengthening will power and finding fulfillment in the process.
